The short answer
The right Greenhouse alternative depends on what you are replacing. For an ATS with published prices, Ashby starts at $300 a month for a company of up to 10 people and Manatal at $15 a user. For a staffing or recruiting agency, Loxo, Recruiterflow and Bullhorn are the closest systems of record. If your real problem is that nobody has time to find and screen candidates, no ATS fixes that, and HireAgent sources, screens and ranks them from $299 a month next to the ATS you keep. Greenhouse itself publishes no price; Vendr shows a $26,553 median.
Vendor prices below were read on each vendor's own page and are covered in our pricing pages. Figures marked Vendr are buyer reported medians, not list prices.
Greenhouse alternatives compared on price and what they replace
Greenhouse is a system of record for hiring. Its Core plan covers sourcing and CRM, interview kits and scorecards, scheduling, reporting and an AI notetaker, and Plus and Pro add automation, governance and audit controls. Nobody can tell you what that costs from the website, because every plan ends in a demo request. Vendr's buyer data puts the median at $26,553 a year, with deals from $10,218 to $73,846. Our Greenhouse pricing page traces each of those figures.
Teams look for an alternative for three different reasons, and the answer changes with each. The quote is too high for the size of the company. The process is heavier than a small team needs. Or the ATS is fine but the pipeline is empty. Sort yourself into one of those before you read the table.
| Alternative | Best for | Price we could read | Published or quote only |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ashby | Growth companies that want ATS, sourcing and analytics in one product | Foundations $300 a month at 1 to 10 employees up to $900 at 76 to 100, 10% off annual | Published to 100 employees, rest quoted |
| Manatal | Small agencies and in-house teams that want AI scoring cheaply | Professional $15, Enterprise $35, Enterprise Plus $55 per user a month, annual | Published |
| Loxo | Recruiting agencies that want ATS, CRM and sourcing in one seat | Core $149 per user a month on annual billing, Professional shown as book a demo | Core published |
| Recruiterflow | Agencies running outbound sequences and client work | $149 per user monthly, $119 on annual billing | Platform published, AI quoted |
| Bullhorn | Staffing firms that need back office and front office in one system | Starter $99, Core $165 per user a month; higher plans quoted | Two tiers published |
| HireAgent | Any team that wants candidates sourced, screened and ranked for open roles | $299, $799 and $1,999 a month, or $1,794, $4,794 and $11,994 a year | Published |
Which Greenhouse alternative fits which team
You want an ATS with a price you can read
Ashby is the closest like-for-like for an in-house team. It sells one product, with ATS, sourcing, CRM, scheduling and analytics together, and it prices by company size rather than by seat, so a 40-person company sits in a $500 a month band and a 90-person company at $900. That is a very different shape from Greenhouse, where nothing is printed. Our Ashby pricing read covers the bands and the AI credits included. Above 100 employees Ashby also quotes, so the advantage is mainly for smaller companies.
Manatal is the budget end. Professional is $15 a user a month on annual billing, though it caps the account at 15 jobs, which is why most working agencies land on Enterprise at $35. It includes AI scoring and recommendations on every plan. It is not built for the interview kit and scorecard discipline that Greenhouse sells, so a team that chose Greenhouse for structured hiring will miss that.
You run a recruiting or staffing agency
Greenhouse is built for employers hiring for themselves. An agency also needs client records, placements and, for staffing, billing. Loxo and Recruiterflow both put an ATS and a CRM in one seat at a published price, $149 a user on Loxo Core and $119 to $149 on Recruiterflow. Bullhorn starts at $99 for Starter and $165 for Core, and it is the only one of the three with a full back office, though its AI tiers are quoted. We compare them in detail in our Loxo vs Recruiterflow breakdown.
The ATS is fine, but the pipeline is thin
This is the case most Greenhouse alternative searches miss. An ATS records and organizes candidates. It does not go and find them, read two hundred profiles against your criteria, or write the first message. If a recruiter spends the week searching and screening, moving to a cheaper ATS saves the license and none of the time.
HireAgent takes that work. You describe the role and the criteria, it sources candidates, scores each against what you asked for with the evidence attached, drafts the approach and books interviews with people who reply. It connects to Greenhouse through the Harvest API, so the candidates you approve land in the pipeline you already run. Plans start at $299 a month for one team, $4,794 a year for three seats and ten open roles, and there is no implementation fee.
What a Greenhouse replacement costs against the Vendr median
Take a company with 10 open roles and three recruiters. At Vendr's low end Greenhouse is about $10,218 a year before services. Ashby for a 40-person company is $6,000 a year at the $500 band, or $5,400 with the annual discount. Manatal Enterprise for three users is $1,260 a year. HireAgent Growth is $4,794 a year and sits next to whichever ATS you keep.
At 40 open roles and ten recruiters the Vendr median is $26,553, Manatal Enterprise for ten users is $4,200, and HireAgent Scale is $11,994 a year with SSO. The point is not that one number is smaller. The ATS and the agent do different jobs, and a team that needs both should price both. A team that needs only one should be clear which job it is paying for.
Questions to ask before you switch
Moving off an ATS is a project. Ask what happens to your historical candidate data and whether it exports in full, how long migration takes and who does it, and what the new vendor charges for it. Ask whether scorecards and interview kits carry over or must be rebuilt. If you screen with AI, ask whether the vendor has the bias audit documentation New York City Local Law 144 requires; our guide to AI hiring laws and compliance covers it.
For engineering teams the sourcing side is its own problem, because the strongest candidates rarely apply. If that is your case, a marketplace such as hiring developers by skill rather than by resume is a different way to reach them, and an agent such as ours can then screen who answers.
Greenhouse alternatives questions, answered
What are the main Greenhouse competitors?
The closest competitors for in-house hiring are Ashby, Lever and Workable. For agencies they are Loxo, Recruiterflow and Bullhorn. Manatal competes on price. None of them sources and ranks candidates for you the way an AI recruiting agent does, which is why many teams run an agent beside the ATS.
Is there a cheaper alternative to Greenhouse?
Yes. Manatal Professional is $15 a user a month and Ashby Foundations starts at $300 a month for a company up to 10 people. Greenhouse's Vendr median is $26,553 a year, so both are lower for a small team, but neither replicates Greenhouse's structured interview depth.
Does Greenhouse publish its pricing?
No. Its pricing page lists Core, Plus and Pro and ends each in a demo request, read on 31 October 2026. Vendr's median of $26,553 a year comes from buyer purchase data, and Vendr still uses the older tier names Essential, Advanced and Expert.
Can I use HireAgent with Greenhouse?
Yes. HireAgent connects through the Greenhouse Harvest API, so candidates you approve are pushed into your Greenhouse jobs. You keep Greenhouse as the system of record and add sourcing, screening and ranking on top of it.
What is the best Greenhouse alternative for a small team?
For a small in-house team that wants a published price, Ashby or Manatal. For a team whose real bottleneck is finding and screening candidates, an AI recruiting agent that works with the ATS you already have is usually the better spend than a new ATS.
